Today I would like to talk about the world's oceans and plastic litters.
The ocean covers three quarters of the Earth's surface. About 200,000 kinds of marine animals are living in the oceans or around them. The ocean absorbs about 30 percent of carbon dioxide produced by humans, and it contributes to reduce global warming.
For more than 50 years, global production and consumption of plastics have continued to rise. Unfortunately, a lot of plastics end up in the world's oceans. A lot of plastic debris is thrown away everywhere every year. That causes environmental pollution.
Plastic just breaks up into smaller and smaller pieces. These microplastics are eaten by plankton and fish.
According to the report from the U.S., microplastics kill about 100,000 marine mammals every year as well as millions of birds and fishes. Beach cleanups are very important because they directly stop the flow of plastics.
Imagine the oceans with no plastic litter. Start the things that you can do today. Never late than never. Thank you.

B:Yes, Ken. My father told me about our trip the other day. I've been excited since then.

A:What will you do?

B:We will visit New York and Washington, D.C. We will talk with many people in English. But I'm really excited to see basketball games.

A:Sounds good. When are you going to leave?

B:Well…, we want to get there a few days before New Year's Day.

A:Then you'll leave Japan on December 29?

B:I think we will leave the next day.

A:I see. Have a nice trip !
